November 21, 2023
Ahmedabad: The enthusiasm of cricket fans has proven to be advantageous for the Ahmedabad Metro system, especially with the World Cup final serving as a significant milestone for both ridership and revenue. The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd experienced a substantial increase in passengers during the match at Narendra Modi Stadium.
According to data provided by GMRC, during the World Cup final match last Sunday between India and Australia, even with the ticket prices being hiked, over one lakh passengers chose the Metro, contributing to the system’s highest earnings of ₹23,38,207.
The India versus Pakistan game on October 14 attracted the highest number of cricket fans, with 1,12,594 people opting for the Metro as their mode of transportation. This surge translated into revenue exceeding ₹20,00,000 for GMRC on that day. Additionally, other cricket matches hosted in Ahmedabad significantly boosted GMRC’s ridership, destination, and overall income. DeshGujarat
