Commuters take private bypass road to avoid paying more at toll plaza at Bamanbor

Wankaner: An incident has come to light where some individuals, bypassing the Vaghasiya Toll Plaza on the Bamanbor-Kutch National Highway, have constructed a road through privately owned land. These individuals charge Rs 50 per day from four-wheeler drivers, Rs 100 from tempos and small goods vehicles, and Rs 200 from truck drivers who opt to bypass the highway and instead travel on the road through private land.

This private toll tax collection has been ongoing for the past one and a half years, and the police, local administration, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), or any other government department are not aware of it.

The NHAI had constructed a toll plaza near Vaghasiya village on the road from Bamanbore to Kutch. To avoid paying a higher toll tax at this toll plaza, commuters have been taking a road from the closed factory named White House for the last one and a half years.

When asked about this, officials of the NHAI were also unaware of this matter and were shocked. The Project Director of Gandhidham Division said that this toll plaza was merged into Gandhidham from Rajkot Division a month ago, and no complaint has reached him that someone has bypassed the toll plaza and made a road. However, this incident is considered very serious, as the government stands to lose a lot of toll revenue due to it. All officials and toll plaza employees have been called, and a report has been sought.

It is learned that Vaghasia Toll Plaza Manager Ramesh Annamreddy issued a notice to the factory management regarding the toll road erected by the private indiduvals and to stop this act immediately. Despite this, a man named Ravi, who calls himself an army man, and others are running the private toll plaza. DeshGujarat
