Over 45 lakh admissions, worth Rs. 9775 crore done under Ayushman Bharat in Gujarat

New Delhi: More than 45 lakh people have got admission in hospitals empaneled under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) in Gujarat, said the Union government in Parliament.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel) stated the following information in Lok Sabha during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) is the largest publicly funded health assurance scheme in the world which provides health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Currently, 55 Crore individuals corresponding to 12 Crore families are covered under the scheme. Further, many States have expanded beneficiary base on their own. As on 30th November 2023, approximately 6 crore hospital admissions worth Rs. 77,298 crores have been authorized under the scheme. If these services had been availed from the market, the cost would have been at least 1.5-2 times higher for an individual, as the package rates under PM-JAY benefit from the economy of the
scale.
