76km long SP Ring Road to become six-lane; Each lane to be 12.5m wide
December 27, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has decided to turn the 76km Sardar Patel Ring Road into a six-lane highway. Currently, the SP Ring Road is a four-lane road.
Under the new plan, each lane will be widened to 12.5m from the existing 8.5m. The estimated cost of the road widening project in 2019 was above Rs 200 crore when it was initially planned.
In this six-lane project, AUDA will install new stormwater lines and pumps to prevent waterlogging. The civic body will also build several pedestrian walkways along the ring road. With the six-laning of the highway, the flyover along the highway will also undergo six-laning.
The SP Ring Road is one of the busiest roads in the districts, connecting north Gujarat, central Gujarat, and the Saurashtra regions to Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
