Mumbai: Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, announced on Wednesday that the telecom giant Jio is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay to introduce a programme called ‘Bharat GPT.’  He further said that Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is also actively considering the launch of a television operating system and has been working on its development for a considerable period.

During his address at the institute’s annual Techfest, Akash emphasised the significance of building an “ecosystem of development” for the company and added that the company is working on “Jio 2.0.”.

Ambani highlighted the ongoing collaboration with IIT Bombay, dating back to 2014, and the joint effort to launch the Bharat GPT program.

Discussing the transformative impact of artificial intelligence across various products and services, Ambani emphasised their dedication to launching AI both vertically within the organisation and horizontally across all sectors. He revealed plans for introducing new products and services in the fields of media, commerce, communication, and devices.

Ambani went on to mention that the company is developing its own operating system (OS) for televisions and is actively exploring the best approach for its launch.

Ambani shared that 2024 holds significance for the family as his brother is scheduled to get married in that year.

Expressing excitement about providing 5G private networks, Ambani explained that the company plans to offer a 5G stack to enterprises of any size.

He referred to India as the “biggest innovation centre” for the upcoming decade and expressed confidence that the country would become a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.

Ambani discussed the pervasive impact of AI, citing an example where his brother-in-law demonstrated an AI app to regulate mattress temperature. He emphasised that, for him, AI not only stands for artificial intelligence but also signifies “all included.”

Referring to Jio as the world’s largest startup, Ambani encouraged young entrepreneurs to embrace failure without fear. He urged entrepreneurs, particularly those in the consumer space, to work for societal good and emphasised the need for passion for one’s work. DeshGujarat
