Gandhinagar: The Hazira plant of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel will be one of the world’s largest steel manufacturing factories with a capacity of 24 million tonnes by 2029, as announced by the company’s Executive Chairman, Lakshmi Mittal, during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.

Addressing the event, Mittal said, “Gujarat welcomed ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel four years ago, and in 2021, the Prime Minister and Chief Minister performed the ‘bhumi pujan’ of our Hazira Expansion Project. I am proud to say that this expansion project is progressing at a very fast pace, and phase 1 is set to be commissioned by 2026.”

‘Today, on the occasion of Vibrant Gujarat 2024, we have signed MoUs for the second phase of this project, and when this project gets completed in 2029, this Hazira site will become one of the world’s biggest single-location integrated steel plants with a capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum. We believe that with the support of the Gujarat government, we will be able to execute this project in five years,’ he added. DeshGujarat
