VGGS 2024 to see highest investment MoUs compared to any past edition

Gandhinagar: The total figure of investment proposals received in the current edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit may be the highest ever, compared to the previous nine editions. The Gujarat government official informed this today.

Gujarat government official Rahul Gupta, Managing Director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation(GIDC) while replying the media query today in a press conference stated – ‘In this edition of Vibrant Summit, the State is focusing on quality of MoUs rather than the numbers. We are focusing on investments in emerging sectors, semiconductors, electric mobility, space related manufacturing, entire green hydrogen eco-system, renewable energy. So these are some of the emerging sectors, the State govt is focusing for attracting investment. I can assure you that whatever number of MoUs that we have been signing, in each of the past edition, this year’s edition will be the highest ever.’

In reply to another query, Gupta said – ‘The State govt is attaching lot of importance to green hydrogen and eco-system. Green hydrogen has been identified as a thrust sector in policy. There has been specific land allotment which has been brought out by the State government. The Chief Minister in the inauguration session mentioned that one third of total investment is green investment. This investment in green hydrogen will fructify in five to seven years.’

When asked by a media person about possibility of Testla’s manufacturing plant in Gujarat, Gupta said – ‘It is the prerogative of any particular company that where to invest and what to invest. As far as Testla is concerned, Govt of Guj is more than happy to facilitate them if they decide to come to Gujarat, but I can certainly say that given the industrial landscape of Gujarat, the well developed eco-system and policy, Gujarat continues to become the most preferred destination and obvious choice for EV sector’.
