No Grain, No Water, No Bed: PM Modi observing 11-day Anushthan for Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated an 11-day special ritual on January 12th, leading up to the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ramlala at the temple in Ayodhya Dham on January 22nd. In this ritual, PM Modi has been following strict ‘Yama-Niyams’ suggested by scriptures and revered saints for the last eight days.

During these days, he has not taken even a single food grain in his mouth. In this 11-day ritual, the Prime Minister has sacrificed both food and water; instead of water, he is consuming only coconut water. Under these strict Yama-Niyams, the Prime Minister is sleeping on a blanket spread on the ground. By only drinking coconut water and fasting, he is following the practices of penance.

Despite the difficulty in adhering to these rules and regulations, the Prime Minister is fulfilling his governmental responsibilities and traveling, especially given these challenging conditions. He is also worshiping in temples in the far south, which hold significant importance in the life of Lord Ram.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi also observes strict fasting during Shardiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri. Throughout these nine days, he observes Upwas, consuming only lemon water and Falahar (fruits) once a day. Even during these days, he continues to carry out his government duties.

The Prime Minister before the start of the ritual had stated in a video message “This is a huge responsibility. As it is also said in our scriptures, we have to awaken divine consciousness in ourselves for the Yagya and worship of God. For this, fasts and strict rules have been prescribed in the scriptures, which have to be followed before consecration. Therefore, according to the guidance I have received from some pious souls and great men of the spiritual journey and according to the ‘Yama-Niyams’ suggested by them, I am starting a special ritual of 11 days from today.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be among the few individuals present in the Garbh Gruh (sanctum sanctorum) of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya during the consecration ceremony on January 22nd. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and president of the temple trust Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji will also be present inside the sanctum sanctorum.
