Gujarat Government to Build Rs 80.25 Crore Yatri Niwas in Ayodhya for Pilgrims
October 08, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government is set to construct a state-of-the-art ‘Yatri Niwas’ (Pilgrim Accommodation) in Ayodhya to provide pilgrims and travelers from Gujarat with comfortable accommodation and modern facilities during their visits to the holy city.
The facility will be built at an estimated cost of ₹80.25 crore. Spread across 6,929.28 square metres within the township currently under development in Ayodhya, the project is being undertaken by the Gujarat Tourism Corporation.
According to the state government, the Yatri Niwas will have 308 beds across different categories of rooms. A spacious hall with a seating capacity of 864 people will also be part of the complex, making the facility suitable for group activities and gatherings.
The proposed pilgrim residence will feature a range of modern amenities, including a reception centre, visitor lounge, souvenir shop, multipurpose hall, auditorium, meeting room and dining area. The complex will also include a terrace garden, digital display systems and landscaped open spaces.
Construction of the facility has already commenced, and the government has stated that it is expected to be opened to pilgrims from Gujarat within the coming year.
The project comes amid the continued flow of devotees to Ayodhya following the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in 2024, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, Ayodhya has continued to attract pilgrims from across India and abroad.
The Gujarat government has described the Yatri Niwas as an initiative aimed at providing travelers from the state with home-like accommodation and convenient facilities during their pilgrimage.
Beyond its role as a lodging facility, the project is being positioned by the state government as a means of strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between Gujarat and Ayodhya, while enhancing the experience of pilgrims visiting the city.
With its combination of accommodation, community spaces and visitor amenities, the proposed Yatri Niwas is expected to become a dedicated base for pilgrims from Gujarat traveling to Ayodhya for religious and cultural visits. DeshGujarat
