Stone pelting on Ramji’s procession in Padra; over five women injured

Vadodara: The nation is celebrating the ‘Pran Pratishta’ of Ram Lalla in Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya. However, celebrations in Padra taluka were marred by a stone-pelting incident. Stones were pelted at the Shri Ram procession being taken out after the consecration ceremony in Bhoj village, Padra. More than five women are reported to have been injured in the stone-pelting incident. Following the incident, the local police convoy was mobilized to control the situation.”
A bike rally was organized by the Hindu Ekta Sangathan from Gametha village which was to be concluded at Bhathiji temple after passing through multiple villages. When the rally reached Bhoj village, the stone-pelting occurred, injuring more than five women. The police have stated that the situation is under control now.
It is learned that the police presence during the procession was initially low. However, a sufficient fleet of police arrived after the incident. At present, the police are conducting further investigation to determine who pelted the stones. Police efforts are underway to apprehend the stone-pelters. After the intervention of higher police officials, the situation has been brought under control.
It is also worth mentioning that a similar stone-pelting incident took place on Sunday in Kheralu, Mehsana district, on the eve of Pran Pratishtha Mohotsav. When the pilgrimage reached the Belim Vas area in the evening, people suddenly started pelting stones at them from the surrounding areas. The police had to fire tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. It was learned that five people were injured in the stone-pelting.
