15 days post Uttarayan, another injury from a kite string in Vadodara

Vadodara: Even though fifteen days have passed since Uttarayan, some individuals in the city are still flying kites using sharp strings. Today, another young person was injured when a kite string cut his throat while he was on a bike in the Makarpura area of the city. The cuts were so deep that the young man lost consciousness as blood rushed out of the wounds.

It is learned that Vipul Patel was on his way to work on his bike from Makarpura GIDC Road in the city when he fell from the bike due to the sharp string of the kite wrapping around his neck. Soon, a fountain of blood sprayed as the cord tightened, leaving him visibly soaked in blood. Onlookers attempted to stop the bleeding by using handkerchiefs and cloths around his neck. Simultaneously, the 108 ambulance was called, which arrived and transported him to the hospital. Following this incident, the gathered crowd expressed their anger, demanding a complete ban on the use of sharp strings.

It is noteworthy that this year, the city police had issued an order banning the use of Chinese strings. However, some kite-flyers secretly arranged Chinese string to fly kites and enjoyed Uttarayana. Despite fifteen days passing since Uttarayana Parva, some kite-flyers are still actively flying kites.

It’s also worth mentioning that after the festival of Uttarayan, the power company usually removes the wires and threads hanging on the trees. However, it seems that no such work has been done this year, contributing to this tragic incident.

It is noteworthy, that just a day ago in Surat, 53-year-old Hasmukh Limbachiya, a diamond industry worker, suffered a throat injury from a kite thread at Amroli bridge and had to be hospitalized at SMIMER.DeshGujarat
