After bail in Junagadh case, Azhari held by Kutch Police in another hate speech case

Junagadh: Just a few hours after a Junagadh court granted bail to Mufti Salman Azhari, along with two others, in a hate speech case, the Kutch Police arrested the Islamic preacher Azhari in another case related to provocative speech. Azhari was arrested from Rajkot Central Jail after completing the bail formalities there.

Even though the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Junagadh had not sought an extension, they opposed the bail plea of the 38-year-old cleric. Despite the opposition, the court granted bail to Azhari, Yousuf Malek, and Azim Odedara, who were all arrested in the same case on Monday.

Malek, a Junagadh-based builder, and Odedara, the president of Al Azim Charitable Trust, were sent to Junagadh district jail until they completed their bail formalities. However, Azhari, unable to fulfill immediate bail conditions such as depositing his passport, was sent to judicial custody. Subsequently, he was arrested by Kutch (East) LCB after obtaining a transit remand from the Junagadh court.

The Kutch (East) police had registered a hate speech case against Azhari and Mohammadkhan Mor, the president of Gulshane Mohamadi Trust, on Tuesday. The police alleged that Azhari had delivered a hate speech in Samakhiyali before the one in Junagadh on January 31. DeshGujarat
