February 12, 2024
Ahmedabad: The airport police today arrested a passenger from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city for travelling with a bogus passport.
An individual named Narhari Patel, who was allegedly living illegally in the US, was returning to Ahmedabad from a Qatar Airways flight. The accused was travelling on a bogus passport under the name of Mohammed Vasid Gori. The airport authorities, after finding out the discrepancy in the passport, filed a complaint at the airport police station and handed over the passenger to the police.
According to the FIR registered at the Airport Police station, the individual has been booked under IPC sections 465, 467, 468, 471, and section 12 of the Passport Act. The accused is a resident of Kalol Taluka in the state capital, Gandhinagar.
The FIR states that on February 12, 2024, one passenger, namely Narharikumar Vishnubhai Patel, who arrived by Qatar Airways flight no. QR-534, approached for arrival immigration clearance at the counter manned by the complainant, Nilesh Salokhe. During the verification process, passport details indicated that the passport presented was issued to Mohammed Vasid Gori of Rajasthan. Hence, prima facie, it can be inferred that the accused has presented a fraudulently obtained Indian passport.
The police have arrested the accused, and further investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
