Public hearing for setting up Copper plant at Rajula on March 13

Amreli: About two decades ago, the land was purchased for setting up a copper plant on Hindorna-Barpatoli stretch and public hearing was held for proposed plant. After an agitation, the proposal was shelved. However now the proposal has been revived again and an environmental hearing is going to take place on March 13.

The company representatives had dropped their Nigala visit last year after protests from the locals last year. The company now plans to reenter with fresh plans.

The project is huge with provision of Rs. 15,689 crore investment including Rs. 1302.05 crore for enviornmental care. 8 villages are located in five km periphery distance of the plant. They are Vandh Nageshri, Kagvadar, Mithapar, Sarovarda, Koli Kanthariya, Balani Vav, Vandh Lunsapur, Kovaya. The plant is expected to offer employment to about 3,000 persons.

Purchase of land near Lothpur, Lunsapur has increased the land prices in entire area.
