Gandhinagar: Mahesh Vasava, former MLA of Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) and son of BTP founder Chhotubhai Vasava met with CR Patil who heads the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat. Speculations are rife about whether Mahesh Vasava is going to join the BJP or support the ruling party through his BTP. Vasavas hold influence over Jhghadiya, Dediyapada, etc areas in the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat. BTP has also influence among tribal seats in Southern Rajasthan. However, in the last assembly elections, 7-term MLA Chhtoubhai Vasava could not win the Jhaghadiya seat against BJP candidate Ritesh Vasava.

In another development, former Congress MLA Joitaram Patel has resigned from the Congress party. Joita Patel was an MLA from Dhanera. Joita Patel was seen at Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi’s public meeting in Uttar Pradesh recently in which Modi dedicated Banaskantha headquartered Banas Dairy’s plant in Varanasi.
