Indian Coast Guard Jetty in Vadinar inaugurated

Dwarka: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Jetty in Vadinar was inaugurated on Friday, marking a significant step towards augmenting infrastructure development in the Indian Coast Guard Region (North-West). The jetty construction was undertaken by the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) as a deposit work at a cost of Rs. 74 crore. Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt inaugurated the jetty in the presence of ICG Director General Rakesh Pal and others.

In addition to the ICG Jetty at Vadinar, ICG is also constructing a 100-metre jetty extension at Porbandar, a 200-metre jetty at Okha, and a 125-metre jetty at Mundra.

ICG Regional Headquarters (North West) was established on December 16, 2009, at Gandhinagar. It executes ICG’s mandated charter in the maritime zones of Gujarat, Daman, and Diu. Gujarat state has a coastline of 1215 km, which is one sixth of the total coastline of the country and shares a notional IMBL with Pakistan.

Regional Headquarters (North West) on average deploys 10/12 ships and 2/3 aircraft daily for security, surveillance, and to maintain constant vigil at sea.
