Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad’s Kalupur railway station is undergoing a complete transformation and is being redeveloped into world class station. Sabarmati station is also undergoing major redevelopment supported by infrastructural upgradation of Integrated Coaching Depot (ICD), equipped with modern maintenance facilities for LHB rakes enabling better maintenance and upkeep of trains. Other stations catering to Ahmedabad city such as Maninagar, Vatva, Chandlodia, and Asarva are also being developed as Amrit Stations to improve capacity and provide better passenger amenities to meet the growing demand of fast developing and progressing Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar urban complex. These infrastructure works will help in additional capacity augmentation, decongest the existing busy rail network as well as the station premises, and help in creating new urban growths around the satellite stations within the city limits. The satellite stations in & around Ahmedabad will help in decongesting the crowded Ahmedabad station and develop new cityscapes within the extended city in a planned manner.

 

Gandhinagar, which is the administrative headquarters of Gujarat is fast developing as an IT centre as well as an educational hub. The city is witnessing immense growth and is becoming o­ne of the potential destinations for trade & industry. Gandhinagar Capital station is the country’s first station redeveloped into a world class station. This station boasts of several amenities for passengers which are at par with airports. This station caters to several trains including the prestigious Vande Bharat train and has the capacity to accommodate more trains.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, terminal of few trains originating/departing from Ahmedabad railway station is being shifted i.e. Gandhinagar Capital or Sabarmati. This change of terminals shall provide operational flexibility, reduce congestion at Ahmedabad station, allow augmenting and upgrading passenger services and enable faster execution of infrastructure projects in Ahmedabad city area. With this change, the work of Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train (NHSRCL), including construction work in close proximity of existing tracks, progressing at a fast pace will further gain pace for safe and timely completion of project.

Terminal of six pairs of trains have been shifted to Sabarmati while the terminal of three pairs of trains have been shifted to Gandhinagar Capital. Accordingly, the timings of these trains will also be revised. The details of the trains affected & the revised timings are as under:

Trains shifted from Ahmedabad to Sabarmati

1.The terminal of Train No. 12957 Ahmedabad – New Delhi Swarna Jayanti Rajdhani Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f 07^th April, 2024 and will depart from Sabarmari Station at 19.05 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 12958 New Delhi – Ahmedabad Swarna Jayanti Rajdhani Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 06^th April, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 08.05 hrs.

2.The terminal of Train No. 19401 Ahmedabad – Lucknow Weekly Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f01^st April, 2024 and will departfrom Sabarmati station at 10.05 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 19402 Lucknow – Ahmedabad Weekly Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 02^nd April, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 23.20 hrs.

3.The terminal of Train No. 19407 Ahmedabad – Varanasi Weekly Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f 28^th March, 2024 and will depart from Sabarmati station at 22.00 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 19408 Varanasi – Ahmedabad Weekly Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 30^th March, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 21.30 hrs.

4.  The terminal of Train No. 19409 Ahmedabad – Gorakhpur Bi – Weekly Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f 28^thMarch, 2024 and will depart from Sabarmati station at 10.05 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 19410 Gorakhpur – Ahmedabad Bi – Weekly Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 30^th March, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 10.00 hrs.

5.The terminal of Train No. 20939 Ahmedabad – Sultanpur Weekly Superfast Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f 26^th March, 2024 and will depart from Sabarmatistation at 08.20 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 20940 Sultanpur – Ahmedabad Weekly Superfast Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 27^th March, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 21.30 hrs.

6.The terminal of Train No. 19415 Ahmedabad – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Weekly Express changed to Sabarmati w.e.f 31^th March, 2024 and will depart from Sabarmati station at 20.45 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 19416 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – Ahmedabad Weekly Express will terminate at Sabarmati w.e.f 02^nd April, 2024 and will reach Sabarmati station at 21.30 hrs.

Trains shifted from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar Capital

1.The terminal of Train No. 22957 Ahmedabad – Veraval Superfast Express changed to Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 02^ndApril, 2024 and will depart from Gandhinagar Capital station at 21.55 hrs. This train will have additional halt at Chandlodiya station and will arrive/depart at 22.18/22.20 hrs.

Similarly, Train No. 22958 Veraval – Ahmedabad Superfast Express will terminate at Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 01^st April, 2024 and will reach Gandhinagar Capital station at 05.55 hrs. This train will have additional halt at Chandlodiya station and will arrive/depart at 05.10/05.12 hrs.

2.The terminal of Train No. 19223 Ahmedabad – Jammu Tawi Express changed to Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 02^ndApril, 2024 and will depart from Gandhinagar Capital station at 11.20 hrs. This train will skip halt at Sabarmati station.

Similarly, Train No. 19224 Jammu Tawi – Ahmedabad Express will terminate at Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 01^st April, 2024 and will reach Gandhinagar Capital station at 13.30 hrs. This train will skip halt at Sabarmati station.

3.The terminal of Train No. 19119 Ahmedabad – Veraval Express changed to Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 16^thMarch, 2024 and will depart from Gandhinagar Capital station at 10.35 hrs. This train will have additional halt at Chandlodiya station and will arrive/depart at 11.00/11.02 hrs. This train will skip halt at Sabarmati station.

Similarly, Train No. 19120 Veraval – Ahmedabad Express will terminate at Gandhinagar Capital w.e.f 15^th March, 2024 and will reach Gandhinagar Capital station at 16.00 hrs. This train will have additional halt at Chandlodiya station and will arrive/depart at 15.10/15.12 hrs. This train will skip halt at Sabarmati station.
