Railway Minister on four steps required to achieve 160 kmph speed on Ahmedabad-Mumbai rail route

Gandhinagar: In a talk with the news agency ANI, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared the details of Ahmedabad – Mumbai rail route’s transformation.

Railway Minister first spoke about fencing aligned to Ahmedabad – Mumbai railway route which has been completed. Vaishnav said, the locals would not accept concrete wall fencing because it would divide the areas on both sides of the track. But the thoughtfully designed fence which is already installed now, has been accepted by locals through the Ahmedabad-Mumbai rail route. Thanks to this fencing, practically zero cattle mishap has been achieved. Earlier when moving train would hit cattle, it would create danger.

Railway Minister also spoke about four initiatives required to make upto 160 kmph speed of train possible on Ahmedabad-Mumbai rail route. 1. Change in overhead electrical (OHE), as 800 ampere current would be required to power the train moving at the speed as high as 160 kmph. 2. Curves in track are straightened, and sleeper density, new ballast installation etc steps. 3. Fencing is required to avoid cattle-hits and 4. Kavach system installation because loco pilot would at this speed not be able to see the signals, and therefore automatic protection system would be required. DeshGujarat
