Crackdown on beef samosas in Vadodara; Police uncover statewide network

Vadodara: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the police, along with the Food Department of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), conducted inspections at 23 shops and food trucks on Tuesday. Additionally, a statewide network has been exposed, with beef samosa franchises discovered in Surat and Nadiad. Shockingly, it has been revealed that beef samosas worth 80 lakhs are sold annually in Vadodara alone.

This action follows a raid on Hussani Samosa, which was found to be filling samosas with cow beef. On Tuesday, the team conducted operations in Panigat, Wadi, Mandvi, Mangalbazar, and Tandalja. They inspected 23 shops, collected samples, and issued notices to 6 shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness. Furthermore, 10 kg of kebab samosas were destroyed due to being inedible, and 180 kg of biryani and other raw materials were found and disposed of, totaling 285 kg.

On Saturday, the DCP Zone-4 team conducted a raid at Hussani Samosa and seized 61 kg of beef samosas, 113 kg of beef, as well as 152 kg of the filling, leading to the arrest of 6 individuals. Following the interrogation of these individuals, Imran alias Dahodi Yusuf Qureshi of Bhalej was also detained after confessing to supplying beef.

During the inquiry, it was found that the gang was selling 50 kg of raw beef samosas daily, with sales reaching up to 100 kg during Ramadan. These samosas were priced at Rs. 450 per kg and stored in a large deep freezer at home. DeshGujarat
