April 10, 2024
Panchmahal: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, former MP from the Godhra seat and former chairman of Panchmahal Dairy, Bhupendrasinh Solanki, rejoined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.
Solanki, who served as a member of Parliament from the Godhra constituency during 1999-2009 in the 13th and 14th Lok Sabha, had resigned from the BJP after not being given a Lok Sabha ticket in 2019. In 2019, Solanki contested as an independent candidate; however, BJP’s Ratansinh Rathod won the election with a margin of 428,541 votes.
The Panchmahal Lok Sabha Constituency came into existence after the 2008 delimitation, and since then, the seat has been continuously won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Prabhatsinh Pratapsinh Chauhan of BJP served as the MP from Panchmahal from 2009 to 2014, followed by Ratansinh Rathod elected as the MP in 2019. However, the BJP has now announced the candidature of Rajpal Singh Jadhav instead of repeating Ratan Singh Rathore. DeshGujarat
