Scooterist dies after being hit by AMTS bus; driver held

Ahmedabad: A video of a tragic accident between a bus and a two-wheeler at Bhulabhai Park Crossroad in the city has gone viral. The accident occurred on April 19th, resulting in the loss of life of the two-wheeler rider, Naveen. Following the incident, the driver of ACM 26 bus on Route no. 13/1 of the Amdavad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) was removed from service and subsequently arrested.
The bus driver responsible for the accident is currently under police custody and has been booked under IPC Sections 304A, 279, 337, 427, and sections 177, 134B, 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The bus has been seized and taken to the police station for further action.

Additionally, the bus operator has terminated the employment of the driver. Furthermore, the private operator of bus (Arham) has been fined ₹2 lakh by the AMTS.
In an official statement, AMTS expressed condolences to the bereaved family and expressed sorrow over the incident. The public transport branch of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) stated that they regularly conduct traffic awareness and safe driving training programs for bus drivers to prevent accidents. A training program has been scheduled in the coming days to further address accident prevention. DeshGujarat
