Heatwave to continue in Gujarat; IMD issues orange alert

Ahmedabad: The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for several districts of Gujarat as heatwave conditions are likely to prevail with high temperatures over the upcoming four days.
WEATHER WARNING for next 4 days for Gujarat State Diu, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
May 21st: Heat wave conditions very likely continue to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Amreli and in Kutch; in the districts of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Surat and Valsad.
IMPACT:- High temperature. Increased likelihood of heat illness symptoms in people who are either exposed to sun for a prolonged period or doing heavy work. High health concern for vulnerable people e.g. infants, elderly, people with chronic diseases.
SUGGESTED ACTIONS: (a) Avoid heat exposure– keep cool. Avoid dehydration.
(b) Drink sufficient water- even if not thirsty.
(c) Use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, buttermilk, etc. to keep
yourself hydrated
Warm night warning:- Warm night conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Gujarat region namely Vadodara & Ahmedabad;in Bhavnagar district of Saurashtra.
May 22nd : Heat wave conditions very likely continue to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Amreli and in Kutch; in the districts of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Surat and Valsad.
