Arrest of 4 IS Terrorists: Gujarat ATS on lookout for weapon planters

Ahmedabad: After the arrest of four Sri Lankan nationals with alleged ties to the terror group Islamic State (IS), the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) is now searching for those responsible for planting weapons for them. The weapon stash was found under construction debris in Chiloda, located on the busy Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar highway.

The four accused, identified as Nusrath Ahmed Gani, Nafran Naufer, Faris Faruq, and Rasdeen Abdul Raheem, were apprehended by the Gujarat ATS at Ahmedabad airport late on Sunday.

Three pistols, 20 rounds of ammunition, and an ISIS flag were recovered on Sunday. According to an ATS official, the men were allegedly planning a suicide attack in Gujarat, awaiting approval from their Pakistani handler. However, the exact timing and target of the attack remain unknown.

The ATS is searching for those who planted the weapons in the debris. Efforts are underway to retrieve CCTV footage to identify the culprits and ascertain when the weapons were planted.

Meanwhile, the four accused are under police custody for 14 days. So far, they have not revealed any specifics of the planned attack. However, law enforcement agencies are conducting forensic data extraction from their devices and analyzing communication apps to uncover additional details about their plans and any potential accomplices in India.
