BJP trailed in 26 assembly seats in 2022, just18 in 2024 in Gujarat: Patil

Surat: Speaking at his fecilitation function in Surat, Gujarat BJP chief and union Jal Shakti minister CR Patil said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) had lost 26 seats in the year 2024 assembly elections, but in the recently concluded general election of Lok Sabha, the party has got leads in all assembly seats in Gujarat barring just 18 seats.

Patil said the party has won assembly by-polls on all five assembly seats that were earlier not occupied by BJP. Patil said BJP has increased its vote share in number compared to the year 2022 assembly polls in recently concluded Lok Sabha election.

He said if Surat had gone to polling, the party could have added further 8 lakh votes. Patil pointed out the history the city of Surat made by electing the BJP candidate unopposed to Lok Sabha.

Patil also mentioned party’s loss in Banaskantha Lok Sabha election and accepted the responsibility for the defeat on this one seat. DeshGujarat
