Record high passenger traffic on Surat – Sharjah and Surat – Dubai routes in 2023-24

Surat: Surat-Sharjah route recorded the highest number of passengers in the financial year 2023-24. A total of 60,851 passengers travelled on this route during this period. Surat-Sharjah route was launched five years ago.

Meanwhile, 17,989 passengers travelled on the Surat-Dubai route in 2023-24. This surge resulted in a combined total of 78,840 passengers travelling between Surat, Sharjah, and Dubai in 2023-24.

Air India Express and Indigo Airlines operate flights between Surat and Sharjah, and Surat and Dubai, respectively. These routes are operational three to four days a week. The Surat-Sharjah route began in 2018-19, gradually increasing its passenger count annually.

The Surat-Sharjah route saw a steady increase in passenger numbers: 2,812 in 2018-19, 44,263 in 2019-20, 15,263 in 2020-21, 33,818 in 2022-23, and reaching 60,851 in 2023-24. Despite the introduction of the Surat-Dubai route by Indigo after Air India Express, the Surat-Sharjah route still continues to attract higher passenger numbers. DeshGujarat
