250 offices expected to open in SDB on July 7; attempts being made for Surat-Mumbai flight

Surat: A meeting of the management committee of the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) took place on Friday to discuss the opening of over 250 offices scheduled for July 7. Regarding this, 150 office owners have reportedly given their final confirmation about opening their offices in SDB.

Lalji Patel, vice-president of the SDB committee, stated that the furniture and infrastructure for 250 offices are complete, and the committee is also following up with other office owners where furniture work is still in progress.

He added, “The infrastructure for the customs house at SDB is ready. We are awaiting some clearances and are hopeful to receive them by July 7.” On the other hand, a request has been made to higher authorities regarding the start of the Surat-Mumbai flight.

The SDB management aims to make 4,200 offices functional in the building, which has a carpet area of 6,728,604 sq ft, about 55,000 sq ft more than the Pentagon. The 15-storey, 81-meter high, nine-tower complex spans a 35.54-acre campus with a built-up area of 6,817,050 sq ft. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the bourse in December 2023, efforts have been ongoing to make it operational. DeshGujarat
