Ministry of Education adds high-level committee to enhance examination processes

Delhi: According to a press release today, the Ministry of Education has appointed a new High-Level Committee to oversee and improve the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) examination procedures. This move aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and fairness in conducting examinations nationwide.

Led by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former Chairman of ISRO and Chairman BoG at IIT Kanpur, the committee comprises esteemed members including Dr. Randeep Guleria from AIIMS Delhi, Prof. B J Rao of Central University of Hyderabad, Prof. Ramamurthy K from IIT Madras, Shri Pankaj Bansal of People Strong, Prof. Aditya Mittal from IIT Delhi, and Shri Govind Jaiswal from the Ministry of Education as Member Secretary.

The committee’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Reform in Examination Mechanisms:
    • Analyzing and enhancing the end-to-end examination processes.
    • Strengthening SOPs and monitoring mechanisms of the NTA to ensure compliance.
  • Improvement in Data Security Protocols:
    • Evaluating and recommending enhancements to existing data security measures.
    • Proposing robust security protocols for paper-setting and other critical processes.
  • Structure & Functioning of NTA:
    • Providing recommendations to streamline organizational structure and operations.
    • Enhancing the effectiveness of the Grievance Redressal Mechanism within the NTA.

The committee is mandated to submit its comprehensive report to the Ministry within two months. This strategic move aims to elevate the standards of examination administration and uphold the integrity of assessments conducted by the NTA, benefiting students and educational institutions nationwide.
