Fire due to gas cylinder blast at Odhav godown kills 2, injures 4

Ahmedabad: A fire erupted at a godown in Arihant Industrial Estate in the Odhav area of the city after a gas cylinder blast today. The incident occurred when commercial gas bottles used in the compressor exploded due to built-up pressure. Owner Ramesh Patel, aged 50, and worker Pawan Kumar, aged 25, lost their lives instantly at the scene. Four others were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
At Bansi Powder Coating Godown, various equipment undergoes coloring and powder coating processes, utilizing commercial gas bottles in their compressors. A blast occurred in one of these cylinders due to pressure buildup. The entire godown collapsed due to the intense fire following the cylinder blast.
Upon receiving the distress call, the fire brigade dispatched five vehicles and an ambulance to the scene immediately. Upon arrival, the fire brigade found two individuals at the scene who had sustained fatal injuries from the blast.
They managed to bring the fire under control using water cannons. The injured, including Surpalsinh (18), Vasudev Patel (22), Kanubhai, and Sahadev, were transferred to the hospital for medical treatment. DeshGujarat
