Cow beef selling Samosa Center in Vadodara sealed after reopening post jail release of owners

Vadodara: Yusuf Sheikh and his son Naim were arrested in April this year for selling beef kebabs and samosas in their shop Hussaini Samosa in Vadodara. After they were released from jail, it was observed that they resumed selling illegal beef kebabs and samosas in New Hussaini Samosa Center without the necessary licences. On knowing this, the Food Safety Officer and the ward team destroyed their stock and sealed their shop on Monday.

In April this year, Yusuf and Naim were caught for selling beef products disguised as mutton and chicken at their shop. Four labourers and a beef supplier Imran Qureshi were also arrested along with Yusuf and Naim. The Food Safety Department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) cancelled their FSSAI licence, and all accused were sent to jail by the court’s order.

Upon release from jail, Yusuf and Naim reopened their shop in the Panigate area without obtaining the required licences. The VMC authorities came to know about this 15 days after reopening of shop. The VMC team reached the shop yesterday, destroyed the stock of cow meat kebabs and samosas, and sealed the premises. A large crowd gathered at the site during the operation.

A BJP corporator had previously complained to the Municipal and Police Commissioners that Yusuf bought Hindu property near Panigate, built a residential building, and opened a shop selling kebabs and samosas. He requested an investigation into the construction and violation of the Disturbed Area Act, but no investigation was conducted. DeshGujarat
