First Vande Bharat sleeper train to debut before Aug 15 on Delhi – Mumbai route via Gujarat

Gandhinagar: India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to start operations before August 15. The train will initially operate between Delhi and Mumbai via Gujarat. Manufacturing of the sleeper train coaches in Bengaluru is in the final stage.

According to a media report citing Railway Ministry sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to present the first Vande Bharat sleeper train to the nation before August 15. “The completion work of the train set is in full swing, and the first prototype will be operational within two months,” stated Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

With existing trains consistently full, passengers often struggle to secure reservations for the Delhi to Mumbai route. The Railways Department is launching India’s first sleeper Vande Bharat train on this route to address the demand from passengers. Initially, these trains will operate at speeds up to 130 km per hour, with plans to increase to speeds between 160 to 220 km per hour.
