June 29, 2024
Ahmedabad: Ellisbridge MLA Amit Shah has written a letter to the Secretary of the Narmada Water Resources and Water Supply, Gandhinagar, urging quick repairs of the Vasna barrage gates on the Sabarmati River. The repairs, usually completed by June 1st, are still pending, raising concerns about potential floods during the monsoon.
MLA Shah stated that the water level of the Vasna barrage rises during the rainy season in Ahmedabad. It increases risks of floods and potential property damage. The incomplete gate repairs prevent timely operation, and the Sabarmati River is the only way left to drain rainwater from the area.
Shah requested to speed-up completion of the repairs and asked for a detailed report on the reasons behind the delay. The pre-monsoon repair work at Vasna barrage is vital to ensure efficient water discharge and prevent flooding in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
