NEET-UG paper leak case: CBI conducts searches at 7 locations in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at seven locations across Gujarat today in the NEET-UG paper leak case.

According to officials, the operation began in the morning at the residences of suspects located in four districts—Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.

The CBI has filed six FIRs in the NEET-UG paper leak case, including its own FIR based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry and five FIRs from states where it has taken over the investigation. The agency has taken over one case each from Bihar and Gujarat, and three cases from Rajasthan.

NEET-UG, administered by the NTA, facilitates admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions. This year’s examination took place on May 5 across 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 abroad, with more than 23 lakh candidates participating.

The first CBI FIR was registered on June 23, the day after the ministry announced it would transfer the probe into alleged irregularities during the exam’s conduct to the central agency. DeshGujarat
