Morbi Municipality issues final notice to BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Trust for removing illegal construction
July 02, 2024
Morbi: Morbi Municipality issued a final notice to the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Trust to remove illegal construction in the Machchhu River within 24 hours. The notice emphasised that if the Trust fails to comply within 24 hours, the municipality will remove the construction at the Trust’s expense.
Despite previous notices from the municipality, the Trust has not taken substantial action. The municipality emphasised the need for complete removal to prevent potential flood risks in the river’s catchment area.
The Chief Officer of the municipality highlighted the urgency of the situation in the notice. He cited the unauthorised nature of the construction and the potential danger it poses. Despite initial efforts by the Trust to dismantle the construction using small machines, the municipality claims these actions are merely for show. The municipality warned that any damage to life and property due to flooding would be the Trust’s responsibility.
The notice mentioned that although the Trust’s representative assured the media of compliance with administrative decisions, their actions on the ground have contradicted. The municipality has reiterated its demand for removal of the illegal construction and failure to comply will force the municipality to intervene at the Trust’s expense. DeshGujarat
