Surat Police stop Indigo flight on runway to apprehend rioting accused

Surat: Surat Police stopped a plane on the runway to apprehend an accused in a rioting case, who was attempting to flee abroad. The incident occurred on a 3:30 PM Indigo Airlines flight from Surat to Goa. The plane was brought back to the parking area based on an emergency call from the police.
The Surat police received information that Kishan Ganpat Patel, wanted for rioting and assaulting a security guard was travelling on the flight to Goa. The Indigo Airlines flight was preparing for takeoff at Surat International Airport when the ATC received an SOS call from the Surat Police. The pilot was instructed to return the plane to the apron, which he did at 3:30 PM, and requested permission to open the gate.
Following the emergency call, the airport authority alerted the CISF jawans. The CISF team responded within five minutes. The airplane staff informed the passengers of a short technical delay to avoid panic.
Upon returning to the aerobridge, Hajira police, airport police, and CRPF jawans boarded the plane and detained Patel, who was travelling with his family. The family protested, causing a brief delay. Kishan Patel, aged 26 and a resident of Hazira village, was taken into custody by the police.
The plane’s departure was delayed from its scheduled time of 3:25 PM to 4:47 PM. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) sent a preliminary report to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) explaining the delay. DeshGujarat
