Four Patan cops booked for kidnapping after Ahmedabad shopkeeper approaches HC

Ahmedabad: The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) booked four local crime branch (LCB) officers from Patan on Thursday. The FIR comes after one Atul Prajapati 48, residing in Panchsheel Enclave, Paldi, approached the Gujarat High Court alleging kidnapping and intimidation by the cops.
According to the complaint, echoing an earlier FIR lodged with Ellisbridge police on April 4, four unidentified men forcibly took Prajapati from his shop in Ambawadi on April 1. Vikram Desai, claiming to be from Patan LCB, showed his identity card. These men interrogated him about his business and family but evaded his questions about their destination. As Prajapati became agitated, they abandoned him near a bridge in Kalol, threatening him against disclosing the incident.
The DCB filed a complaint against Vikram Desai and three others for kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and abetment. During the hearing of Prajapati’s petition seeking action against the policemen and Patan SP, Justice Nirzar Desai rebuked the police leadership for shielding the SP and failing to take action against him.
