ABVP cadres cleaned the roads after Jagannath Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad
July 08, 2024
Ahmedabad: The 147th Rath Yatra of Bhagwan Jagannath took place on Sunday, drawing thousands of devotees to join the procession. However, after the Yatra concluded, the 18 km route was left strewn with visible litter. In response, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) initiated a cleaning campaign, with over 200 student volunteers cleaning the Rath Yatra route.
For the past five years, the task of cleaning this waste has been undertaken through the Students for Seva initiative of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. This year also, around 200 student volunteers participated in the cleaning campaign.
Samarth Bhai Bhatt, State Secretary of ABVP, stated, “For the past five years, our organization has actively participated in the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. Continuing this tradition, ABVP organized a cleaning campaign during the 147th Rath Yatra, involving about 200 students from Ahmedabad. The primary objective of this campaign is to spread a positive message among the people and society. The entire program aims to encourage students to contribute to the Swachh Bharat mission and promote a cleaner and healthier India.”
Similar cleaning campaigns are also conducted in major cities like Anand, Surat, and Rajkot, where Rath Yatras are held. DeshGujarat
