Surat train bookings surge: Diwali to Chhath Puja period tickets fully booked within minutes

Surat: Train bookings from October 25 to Chhath Puja are fully booked, with passengers rushing to secure tickets as soon as the 120-day advance booking period opened. As soon as Diwali 2024 bookings opened, tickets for many trains were fully booked within minutes.
Tickets for many trains originating or passing through Surat were completely booked within minutes. It is suspected that softwares are being used for large-scale online ticket bookings.
Even waiting list tickets are unavailable for popular trains such as Tapti Ganga Express (19045), Bandra Gazipur Express (20941), Ahmedabad-Barauni Express (19483), Ahmedabad-Asansol (19435), Udhana-Danapur (20933), Paschim Express (12925), and Surat-Bhagalpur (22947).
Meanwhile, during this Diwali period, Bandra Gorakhpur Humsafar (19091) has 397 passengers on the waiting list, August Kranti Rajdhani (12953) has 228, Udhna-Banaras (20929) has 439, Udhna-Barauni (09033) has 853, and Golden Temple (12903) shows 929 passengers waiting.
Some trains like Tapti Ganga, Danapur, Surat-Bhagalpur, etc., showed “No Room” messages as soon as booking started, indicating they were already fully booked. Waiting lists for some trains have crossed 400. Most trains show waiting lists exceeding 100. Special and general trains running during Diwali are in focus now as regular trains fill up quickly.
