IRCTC Website Hacking Case: Umra Police arrest 1 for supplying railway ticket booking software

Surat: Umra Police have arrested another suspect in the case of hacking the railway e-booking website irctc.co.in to generate hundreds of confirmed tickets. The Umra Police have apprehended Raju Yuvraj Pandit, who allegedly provided the railway ticket booking software to the main accused, Rajesh Mittal, for Rs. 5000.

The Mumbai vigilance team had received a tip-off that Rajesh was booking tatkal tickets through hacking. Following this, along with Umra Police, the WR vigilance team conducted a raid at a flat in Meghsarman Apartment in the Citylight area on June 25. At that time, Rajesh was simultaneously operating five laptops in his bedroom and booking train e-tickets. He was trying to book confirmed train tickets with the help of Gudder and Nexus software. Further investigation revealed that e-tickets worth Rs. 4.50 crore were booked using this software. Following this, police arrested Rajesh Girdhari Mittal and Kripa Dineshbhai Patel after registering a criminal case.

Later, the investigation by Umra Police revealed that Raju Yuvraj Pandit (34 years old, Res. Radhe Residency, Godadara—originally hailing from Jharkhand) supplied the software. The ticket booking software was installed on six laptops at a cost of Rs. 5000, amounting to a total of Rs. 30,000. Additionally, Raju Pandit used to collect Rs. 1000 per month as a commission for the renewal if software. The police have arrested Raju and are investigating to determine to whom else he has sold the software in online trading. DeshGujarat
