Ahmedabad: A new trend was witnessed in placement at LD College of Engineering (LDCE), where chemical engineering students have achieved a high placement percentage of 91.5%, and mechanical engineers secured the highest package of Rs. 19 lakhs per annum. This marks a shift from the previously favored computer and IT engineering fields. According to the placement report, chipmaker Micron Ltd., setting up a plant in Sanand, recruited 24 students.
Dr. Nilay Bhuptani, LDCE’s principal, noted that this year’s placements reflect a preference among recruiters for core engineering disciplines, with a significant disparity: 26% of placements in computer and IT branches versus 74% in other fields.
Among LD College of Engineering’s various branches, chemical engineering led with 91.5% placements, followed closely by Instrumentation & Control (89.9%) and Electrical Engineering (89.8%). Mechanical Engineering secured the highest maximum salary offer at Rs. 19 lakh per annum, with a placement rate of 81.5%.
In total, 129 companies participated in the recruitment drive, including major firms such as Adani Group, Academor, L&T, Atul Ltd, TatvaSoft, ArcelorMittal, Micron, TCS, and Torrent Power. The placement process continues until October-November, so these figures may change. DeshGujarat
