Transfer rules for HTAT Head Teachers of Gujarat announced

Gandhinagar: The government of Gujarat today announced new transfer rules for HTAT head teachers, addressing previous protests by teachers seeking these updates.
Here are the details of the new rules:
– One head teacher will be appointed when there are 150 or more students in Balwatika for Class 5.
– One head teacher will be appointed when there are 100 or more students in Classes 6 to 8.
– One head teacher will be appointed when there are 150 or more students in Class 8 from Balwatika.
– A head teacher must have completed at least 3 years of service at their current school to be eligible for a district internal transfer.
– To seek a district transfer, a head teacher must have completed at least 5 years of service in the current district. Of the available posts, 50 percent will be filled on a priority basis, and 50 percent will be filled based on merit.
– Provisions are made for transfers in medical cases, transfers involving the spouses of officers under national or state security, as well as the spouses of non-transferable officers at the state headquarters.
– The Education Department will determine the composition of headmasters along with teachers each year.
– Those who do not maintain their position at their current school will be accommodated first in the approved establishment schools of the Pay Centre, then in the approved establishment schools of the taluka, and finally in the approved establishment schools of the district.
– Intra-district or inter-district transfers can be made for any head teacher appointed through promotion or direct recruitment.
– The maximum age for a headmaster for internal or district-wide transfers should not exceed 56 years and 55 years, respectively.
A new cadre of HTAT Head Teachers was created under the RTE Act 2009, according to the Education Department Resolution dated 22/06/2011. Meanwhile, the HTAT Head Teacher Cadre was designated as an Educational Cadre by the Education Department Resolution dated 15/03/2021. Consequently, the head teachers demanded that the transfer rules for administrative staff should not apply to them.
