Bhutan King likely to arrive in Vadodara via direct international flight on July 22 on private visit

Vadodara: The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, is likely to arrive at Vadodara Airport via first direct international flight from Bhutan on Monday, July 22. This marks the first time an international flight carrying a state guest will land in Vadodara. Bhutan King is likely to be joined by the Prime Minister of Bhutan. The scheduled arrival time according to sources is 11.15 am. Vadodara Airport authorities confirmed that no other flights have been rescheduled due to the arrival of this international flight.

The king is expected to land at Vadodara Airport and visit the Statue of Unity at Ektanagar – Kevadiya. He will return to Bhutan on July 24 itself, late in the late afternoon with a direct flight scheduled for his departure.

The reason for the King’s visit has not been disclosed due to security concerns. However it is learnt that he will visit the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue of the world at 1 pm and the Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam at 3.50 pm. He will halt at the Tent city in Kevadiya.

The Customs and Immigration Department visited Vadodara Airport on Saturday to prepare for the flight and conduct technical verification. Vadodara Airport Director Pradeep Dobriyal confirmed that the King will arrive directly from Bhutan as a state guest and the state administration is preparing for the visit. DeshGujarat
