Coast Guard rescues sick patient from a tanker near Porbandar

Porbandar: Indian Coast Guard conducted a rescue operation in rough monsoon weather, saving an Indian national aboard the Motor Tanker Zeal. The vessel was about 20 kilometers off the coast of Porbandar in the early hours of July 21, 2024. The patient was suffering from numbness in the lower body and had a very weak pulse.

The ICG ALH helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Porbandar was dispatched at dawn on July 21, 2024, despite challenging weather conditions, to perform a medical evacuation from the ship. The aircraft, navigating through intense winds, heavy rain, and adverse weather, reached the MT Zeal about 20 kilometers from Porbandar. The patient was successfully evacuated using a rescue basket while the helicopter maintained precise positioning over the tanker.

ICG medical specialists provided interim relief to the patient in the aircraft and continued care upon landing at the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Porbandar. Once the patient’s condition stabilized, he was transferred to a local agent for additional medical treatment. DeshGujarat
