Surat gets over 4.72 inches of rain in two hours on Sunday evening

Surat: The city of Surat received upto 4.72 inches of rains in just two hours in the evening on Sunday. According to the figures available, the rainfall in Palsana of Surat was 4.72 inches, followed by over 4 inches in Surat city. Water logging was witnessed in parts of Surat due to sudden arrival of heavy rains in the evening. The incidents of trees getting uprooted due to rainfall and wind were also reported.

As per the Surat Municipal Corporatio(SMC) figures, the city areas received upto 115 mm rains in two hours during 6 pm to 8 pm. Varachha, Rander and Central zone recieved highest rainfall while Limbayat and Udhna received relatively lower rain but that too was over two inches.

Water logging in various areas was knee deep or lower than that. Traffic jam and disruptions in commuting was seen in the evening on Sunday following heavy rain. Many vehicles were stuck on water logged roads. The locals at such spots were out to help the people. Some shops in Varachha area and even a Police station of Sarthana witnessed water entering inside the premises. Suryapur underpass was shut for traffic due to water logging. DeshGujarat
