Congress leader pulls chair of female cop; MoS Home Sanghavi calls party anti-women, anti-Dalit

Kutch: A video is going viral on social media in which Congress leader H.S. Ahir is seen moving the chair of a woman during the press conference of party MLA Jignesh Mevani. As Ahir moves the chair, the Dalit female police personnel working in state IB falls down while trying to sit on it. It is learned that the female cop was also insulted and told that she was not eligible to sit there.

Reacting to the video and posting the CCTV footage of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), MoS Home Harsh Sanghavi wrote, ‘The mentality of Congress has always been anti-women and anti-Dalit. See how, today during the press conference of Gujarat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani, his close friend Kutch Congress leader H.S. Ahir deliberately injured a Dalit woman officer by pulling the chair. This is a very condemnable matter.’

When the media tried to contact Jignesh Mevani and H.S. Ahir, no response was received from any of the leaders.

Meanwhile, a senior police official said – ‘An Intelligence Bureau(IB) policewoman was on duty at MLA Jignesh Mevani’s press conference in Bhuj. Haresh Shvji Ahir, who knows her as an IB cop and also the fact that she belongs to the SC/ST community, pulled her chair while she was standing and working. When she fell, Haresh laughed loudly and told her that she was not eligible for the chair. The lady cop is now suffering from mental trauma, shock, and depression. We police officials visited her in the hospital and assured her that action would be taken. An offense has been registered under sections 121(1), 221, 133 of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita and the Atrocity Act. The incident occurred while the victim was on duty, and she has suffered a spinal injury, making the offense of obstruction in duty applicable as well. This is an insult to a woman and her community. The accused is an advocate and the Convener of the Gujarat Congress Kisan Morcha. Despite holding such positions, he has committed this act.’ DeshGujarat
