Families of Takshashila fire tragedy victims refuse to join Congress’s Nyay Yatra

Surat: The families of the victims of the Takshashila Arcade fire tragedy announced on Friday that they would not participate in Congress’s Nyay Yatra, which kicked off in Morbi the same day. The parents mentioned that Congress workers had invited them to join the yatra, but they declined the offer since the case is currently being heard in court.

The parents gathered at Takshashila Arcade to share their decision not to join the yatra and told the media that the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had visited the Surat court three times but had no time to meet them. “Now we are getting calls that they (Congress) will get us justice. We want to tell the leader of the opposition: stop playing politics over the dead bodies of our children. We have not allowed anyone to politicize our children’s deaths so far, and we will not allow it. If you want us to get justice, stop the wrong kind of politics.” the parents added.

Jaysukh Gajera, who lost his child in the fire, stated that the parents are not opposed to the yatra, but they do not want the matter to be politicized.

Gajera explained that the Takshashila case is progressing in court, and they plan to request a speedy trial. “We don’t want this matter to be politicized,” he added. The parents are concerned that the case could be derailed if it becomes a political issue.

After the parents’ announcement, screenshots from Gajera’s social media page, where he had shown support for AAP, began circulating. When questioned about these posts, Gajera clarified, “That was a mistake. I initially supported AAP because their leaders promised to help with a speedy trial, but they did nothing. It was a lesson learned, and since then, we have stopped supporting any political party.” DeshGujarat
