Surat: The standing committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has directed the civic body to issue an order requiring shops that sell chicken, fish, and mutton to remain closed on Mondays during the holy month of Shravan. This decision was made during the standing committee’s meeting on Friday.
The order will apply to several festivals, including Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Anant Chaturdashi, and Paryushan, with Paryushan beginning later this month.
“We received numerous requests for prohibitory orders. The SMC aims to honor the sanctity of these festivals and align with religious practices,” stated standing committee chairman Rajan Patel. DeshGujarat
