Ahmedabad: The city has been getting incessant rain since Sunday morning, with around 3.5 inches of rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours until 6 a.m. on Monday. Due to the continuous downpour, several areas in the city witnessed waterlogging. The Parimal Underpass was inundated late Sunday night, causing a luxury private bus to become stranded and leading to the rescue of the passengers.
A luxury bus from Srinath Travels, traveling from Jodhpur to Rajkot, got stuck near the Parimal underpass in the Paldi area. Despite noticing the rising water, the driver did not stop the bus and drove into the underpass, causing the vehicle to become stuck. After the bus was stranded, around 25 passengers were rescued. A video of the rescue has gone viral on social media, showing passengers being taken out of the bus through the windows with the help of ropes. Half of the bus could be seen drowned inside the water.
The police were informed of the entire incident, and action may be taken against the driver for endangering lives. The passengers expressed anger towards the driver for putting their safety at risk. DeshGujarat
