Red Alert in parts of Gujarat for next 2 days; IMD forecasts extremely heavy rains in Saurashtra-Kutch

Dwarka: Given the deep depression over the state, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy to exceptionally heavy rain in the Saurashtra-Kutch region during the next 24 hours.
As per the IMD bulletin, the deep depression over Saurashtra & Kachchh moved westwards at a speed of 12 kmph during the past six hours and was centered at 0830 hours IST today, the 28th of August, over the same region 50 km north-northwest of Bhuj (Gujarat), 100 km east-northeast of Naliya (Gujarat), and 290 km east-southeast of Karachi (Pakistan). It is likely to move slowly west-southwestwards across the Saurashtra & Kachchh region and reach the Saurashtra & Kachchh coast, adjoining areas of Pakistan, and the northeast Arabian Sea by the morning of the 29th of August.
For the next 24 hours, extremely heavy to exceptionally heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the Saurashtra-Kutch region. A red alert has been issued for Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
Heavy rains are also very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, namely Patan, Ahmedabad, Anand, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. These places are under an orange alert.
Meanwhile, a yellow warning for likely heavy rains has been issued for Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, and Chhota Udepur.
On August 29th, a red alert with forecasts for heavy to very heavy rains at a few places, along with isolated extremely heavy falls, has been issued for Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
On August 30th, an orange alert has been issued with forecasts of heavy to very heavy rains for Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
On August 31st, while there is no red or orange alert, heavy rains are still very likely in Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
On September 1st and 2nd, an orange alert with forecasts of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The IMD, in its bulletin, has also issued a wind warning, stating that squally winds with speeds reaching 45-55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are likely over the districts of South Gujarat Region and Saurashtra & Kutch during the 28th-29th of August.
