Jal Shakti Minister Patil chairs review meeting on rain water harvesting in Surat

Surat: Union Minister of Jal Shakti and Gujarat BJP Chief CR Patil chaired a review meeting in Surat to discuss the planning of “Rain Water Harvesting” with officials, functionaries and stakeholders from various districts of South Gujarat.

During the meeting, Patil received detailed updates on rain water harvesting initiatives in southern districts such as Navsari, Tapi, Dang, and Surat. He emphasized the importance of future planning and collaboration with social organizations involved in rain water harvesting efforts. Instructions were provided to the concerned officials for further strategic planning to enhance water conservation in the region.

The meeting included all South Gujarat BJP leaders, MLAs, collectors, officials, and village sarpanches. A discussion centered on how to tackle the water problem in Gujarat through rain harvesting. Patil reiterated the central government’s commitment to addressing water issues not only in Gujarat but throughout India. He highlighted the plan to connect 20 rivers in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to help alleviate water shortages in Rajasthan.

While addressing the meeting, Patil expressed concern over complaints regarding the installation of taps under the tap water scheme, stating that although taps have been installed in some places, there is no water supply. He explained that while plumbers install taps and lay pipes, borewells are either yet to be drilled or have dried up in areas where they have been drilled. He assured that this problem will also be addressed. DeshGujarat
