September 18, 2024
Rajkot: After Ahmedabad and Surat, another major city in Gujarat is likely to get metro train service. The government of Gujarat has submitted a proposal to the Union government for the construction of a metro rail system in Rajkot. If approved, this will be the first metro rail service in the Saurashtra region.
It is learnt that survey work has already been conducted by metro rail officials, with a plan to construct a 39 km metro route in the city at a cost of ₹10,000 crores. Work on the metro will be initiated in Rajkot once the proposal is approved by the center. Approximately 30,000 people are expected to benefit from the metro’s launch, which will help alleviate the city’s traffic problems.
The introduction of the metro in the city will boost real estate and provide a new investment opportunity. Additionally, it will improve residents’ lifestyles by saving time and reducing travel costs, making Rajkot a hub for urban infrastructure. DeshGujarat
